Understanding Other Requirements

  1. Since you will be starting an online business, you need to be comfortable with your computer. While you can hire professionals to handle the more technical work, you have to be comfortable doing the most basic tasks like handling your emails or browsing the Internet.

As we go along we will try to introduce you to some other computer tasks that you will need to know in order to manage your business efficiently, like handling back-ups or checking the online store database.

  2. You can, in principle, start an online business without investing too much money for a professionally designed online shop or for online marketing. However, it will take you much longer and it will be harder for you to attract customers and make sales.

By investing a little amount of money, you will earn far greater returns in terms of customers gained and time saved. If you do not have any money of your own to invest, you could consider borrowing from friends or family.

The US Small Business Administration should provide you with some information about financing options for small businesses. Many also continue to work part-time and use part of that money to invest in their online business.

  3. You have to seriously commit some time to building your business.  Building a business online requires as much commitment and hard work as an offline business. It is not enough if you just build a website mentioning your product or service and then expect visitors to make a beeline to buy the product.

You have to make sure you spend at least a few hours every week working on your business. In this ebook, we will tell you exactly what you need to do to attract visitors to your site and how you can convert visits in to actual sales.
